                                                  Mission Statement

In August 2003, a dream was born. That dream was to bring a police pipe and drum band  to the city of Newport News and to the Greater Peninsula region. We also wanted to serve our Brother and Sisters  in the first responder community. Our motto is still , "To Honor the Fallen."  After only four years of existence we were named the honored bagpipe band for Police Week 2008. This is an unprecedented historical event for the Tidewater and Greater Peninsula region

When we started, our  second mission was to promote positive public sentiment towards law enforcement and emergency services. To develop an atmosphere in which the police, emergency services and the community work together to better the community and to encourage active participation in community activities. To develop that spirit of teamwork and fellowship our organization not only consists of Newport News police officers, but members of their families, civilian police employees, retired officers, police officers from other jurisdictions, firefighters and civilians who are patriots of their community and country. Thanks to a lot of hard work and perseverance, we have met that mission and we will continue to do so.

This band has supported the Scottish Society of Tidewater, The Tidewater Irish American Society and the Police Emerald Society of Tidewater in cultural events and fundraisers that celebrate the contributions made by those men and women who left country and home looking for a better life for their families and in the process helped forge a great nation.

Our band has grown beyond the geographical boundaries of Newport News and has become a Peninsula Regional Police Pipes & Drums. Our members come from Williamsburg, York County, Virginia Beach, Suffolk  and all the municipalities in between. Our members are united for a common good. The time worn tradition of honoring our Fallen Heroes and keeping hope alive for their families.  Help us to keep this tradition going.

Yours Aye,
Tom Crouch, President
